Suntory Unveils Third "Story of the Distillery" Editions for 2026

Suntory continues its tribute to its storied heritage with the 2026 release of the "Story of the Distillery" series, featuring both Yamazaki Story Of The Distillery and Hakushu Story Of The Distillery . Following special editions released for the 100th anniversary celebrations in 2023 and their subsequent follow-up, these new expressions celebrate the unique legacy and craftsmanship of the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries.

Design & Presentation

Both whiskies come housed in elegant presentation boxes crafted from Echizen-Washi paper, known for its delicate yet durable quality. The Yamazaki box features a depiction of the Minase Waterfalls, an iconic natural landmark near the distillery. In contrast, the Hakushu box presents an illustration of wild birds, reflecting the bird sanctuary located within its grounds. This artistic packaging emphasizes the connection of each distillery to its natural surroundings.

Maturation & Flavor Profile

Each bottling carries a strength of 43% ABV, maintaining a balanced profile characteristic of Suntory’s single malts. While no detailed cask or age information has been revealed, this latest edition preserves the refined style and craftsmanship typical of the Yamazaki and Hakushu expressions.

Release & Availability

Yamazaki Story Of The Distillery and Hakushu Story Of The Distillery will be released simultaneously on May 26, 2026. Both are priced at 17,600 Yen (just under 100 Euros) for a 700ml bottle. Availability will be managed via a lottery system running from March 16 to April 16, 2026.
