Dalmore Cask Curation Series The Madeira Cask Edition Sets Release Date
A Three Bottle Study of Madeira Casks
The Dalmore Cask Curation Series The Madeira Cask Edition is a collection of three single malts, each finished in a different style of Madeira cask. The series comprises a 30 Year Old finished in a 2010 Terrantez Madeira cask, a 34 Year Old finished in a 2018 Bual Madeira cask, and a 45 Year Old finished in a 2012 Malvasia Madeira cask.
The three expressions are bottled at 48.3%, 44.5% and 40.7% ABV respectively, each in 700ml bottles. The release is scheduled for 15 September 2026, with a total of 150 bottles available.
"Madeira is renowned for its connection with the world's finest wines and our hand selected casks from three distinctive styles, Terrantez, Bual and Malvasia, celebrate different facets of the island's legendary winemaking."
The range continues The Dalmore's Cask Curation Series, which explores how different cask types shape the distillery's characterful spirit. Each edition in the series presents a curated set of single malts, highlighting the influence of individual cask styles on the final whisky.
Distilled in 1970 and Finished Across Three Decades
The oldest expression in the collection was distilled in 1970, while the 30 and 34 Year Old bottlings were distilled more recently, with the 34 Year Old drawing on a 2018 Bual Madeira cask and the 30 Year Old on a 2010 Terrantez Madeira cask. The Malvasia cask that finished the 45 Year Old dates from 2012.
The tasting profiles differ markedly across the trio. The 30 Year Old opens with orange blossom, citrus zest, hazelnut and exotic spice on the nose, moves into stone fruit, caramelised orange peel and toasted walnut on the palate, and closes on dried apricot, caramel, sweet oak and allspice. The 34 Year Old carries dried fig, stone fruit, vanilla toffee and cardamom on the nose, with Seville orange, peach, Manuka honey and nutmeg on the palate, and a finish of dried fruit, toffee, sweet oak and patisserie spice.
The 45 Year Old shows dates, stewed fruit, toffee and stem ginger on the nose, golden syrup, dried fruit, chocolate orange and walnut on the palate, and spiced orange, toffee, sweet malt and crystallised ginger on the finish.
