A Stronger Take on The Dalmore 12

The Highland distillery The Dalmore has unveiled the Dalmore 102 Proof Aged 12 Years, a limited edition of its 12 year old single malt. It is bottled at 51% ABV, the equivalent of 102 proof, which gives the release its name.

That makes it considerably stronger than the standard Dalmore 12 Years Old, bottled at 40%, and the release also uses a cask composition of its own.

Bourbon, Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez

The whisky first matured for ten years in American white oak ex bourbon barrels. It was then divided between Oloroso sherry casks and bespoke casks made exclusively for The Dalmore by the Jerez sherry house González Byass.

The result is described as a unique assemblage of classic and aged Oloroso, with sweet Pedro Ximénez blended in, carrying the rich sherried style the distillery is known for.

Official Tasting Notes

Nose: candied citrus, sun dried raisins, treacle toffee and warming oak spice.

Palate: forest berries, Seville orange marmalade, fruit cake, dark chocolate and a hint of sweet liquorice.

Availability

The Dalmore 102 Proof Aged 12 Years is limited in quantity and comes in a 70 cl bottle. It will be available exclusively through The Dalmore website from 2 November 2026, at a recommended retail price of £90.
