This bottling answers longtime collectors’ requests for a peated variant, combining gentle smoke with the signature smoothness Wolfburn is known for. The name Sowilo references the ancient sun rune from the Elder Futhark alphabet, symbolizing victory and vitality—themes that resonate with the whisky’s patient maturation process.

Maturation & Flavor Profile

The whisky spent over a decade quietly maturing in American oak bourbon casks sheltered in Wolfburn’s warehouses at Thurso. This extended maturation has gently developed depth and complexity without overpowering heaviness. The expression balances subtle peat smoke with sweet orchard fruits, honeyed malt, and maritime freshness—an approachable but thoughtfully layered single malt.

• Nose: Gentle peat smoke with hints of sea air and smouldering driftwood, complemented by orchard fruit, vanilla pod, honeyed malt, oak, and fresh wood shavings.
• Palate: Soft floral notes opening to sweet raisins, ripe pear, delicate citrus, creamy malt, vanilla, and a touch of white pepper and nutmeg, finishing with gentle honey sweetness and balanced smoky character.
• Finish: Long, smooth, warming, marked by soft peat smoke, toasted oak, sweet malt, and lingering maritime freshness.

Bottled at 53% ABV, Sowilo is presented non-chill filtered with natural color. Only 730 bottles, individually numbered, were produced. This limited edition single malt is offered at 120 euros through Spiritory.
