The Sakurao Distillery introduces the Sakurao Togouchi Limited Edition , a limited-edition blended whisky that marries the precision of Japanese distilling with the exotic richness of Jamaican rum casks. Launched in June 2026, this blend offers whisky enthusiasts a novel experience within the Togouchi portfolio, emphasizing innovation alongside tradition.

Maturation & Flavor Profile

The base consists of a blend of grain whisky and 15% malt whisky matured initially for two years in ex-bourbon casks (both first and second fill). Afterward, it is finished for 18 months in former Jamaican rum casks, resulting in its distinctive aromatic profile. The whisky is bottled at a notably higher strength of 43% ABV, a first for the Togouchi blended range.

This finishing process highlights the distillery’s ambition to combine traditional Japanese craftsmanship with daring cask innovations.
