THY Whisky Distillery Unveils Festival Exclusive and Doubly Smoked Vesterhav

The THY Whisky Distillery in northern Denmark eagerly anticipates its upcoming THY Whisky Festival on June 13, welcoming 600 guests to the distillery grounds. As part of this celebration, the distillery presents its first festival-exclusive bottling: Thy 6 Years Old Festival Exclusive Cask Nr.295 . This single cask whisky, derived from caramel malt and matured nearly six and a half years in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask, promises a unique cask strength experience limited to just 152 bottles.

Alongside the festival release, the distillery highlights its Thy Vesterhav single malt, notable for its distinct dual-smoke profile. This whisky combines traditional Danish beechwood smoke, lending a gentle sweetness with notes of bacon and nuts, with peat smoke sourced from Danish peat bogs, enriching the spirit with earthy, tarry, and maritime notes reminiscent of sea salt and fresh ocean air.

Maturation & Flavor Profile

The Thy 6 Years Old Festival Exclusive Cask Nr.295 matures in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask, developing depth through notes of black tea, raisins, warm spices, cocoa, and orange peel. Bottled at cask strength, it captures the essence of rich sherry influence paired with the distinct sweetness of caramel malt.

The Thy Vesterhav showcases a nuanced smoky spectrum, balancing the soft, rounded beechwood smoke with the bolder, more intense peat character. Its composition includes Odyssey Barley from 2016, 2019, 2020, and 2021 harvests exclusively from the distillery’s farm. Bottled at 50.4% ABV, this 700 ml whisky reflects the wild climate of Denmark’s west coast and the maritime environment surrounding the distillery.

Thy 6 Years Old Festival Exclusive Cask Nr.295 is an exclusive limited edition of 152 bottles, available only at the THY Whisky Festival.

Thy Vesterhav is produced in a batch of 3,450 bottles and bottled at 50.4% ABV. It is available through Spiritory around €90 per bottle.
