Maturation & Flavor Profile

The Glen Garioch 2013 aged for 13 years in a first fill ex-bourbon barrel, a choice that eschews sherry or wine casks, delivering an unexpectedly tropical fruit aroma palette. This expression is a departure from the distillery’s typical spicy-herbal Highland style, instead offering pronounced coconut, vanilla, and ripe mango notes reminiscent of a rum cask influence.

Conversely, the Glenallachie 2016 from the Stillman’s Gold series matured initially in a refill ex-bourbon cask, followed by an extended 5.5-year secondary maturation in a first fill Sauternes barrique. This additional ageing in French sweet wine casks transforms the whisky into a rich and opulent Speyside single malt, revealing dessert-like tones layered with honey, caramel, and citrus, complemented by fine tannins.

  Glen Garioch presents blossom honey and beeswax with a surprising tropical fruit cascade—ripe mango, pineapple, candied oranges, and citrus peel. Toffee and vanilla warmth from the cask blend with subtle roasted hazelnut and ripe pear.
