Tilo Schnabel, known in the whisky world as The Caskhound, introduces his new FAIR(Y) TALES series at THE VILLAGE whisky fair 2026 in Nuremberg. This independent bottler’s latest project celebrates whisky exhibitions with a set of unique releases blending tradition and storytelling. The debut bottling, THE CASKHOUND 18 Years Old 2007 , is an 18-year-old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky named Smoky Amber, crafted to evoke smoky warmth and depth.

Maturation & Flavor Profile

Smoky Amber is fully matured in an Oloroso sherry cask, harmonizing 60% single malts from the Edrington Group—Macallan, Highland Park, and Glenrothes—with 40% of Caol Ila aged over 20 years. Bottled at 50.5% ABV, this 18-year-old blend balances rich sherry influence, layered sweetness, and delicate campfire smoke. The smokiness is gentle, reminiscent of a smoldering campfire rather than sharp peat, while dry oak spice and a warm finish underline its complexity.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Spicy wood smoke with honeyed sweetness, caramel, dried figs, raisins, tobacco, a hint of Lapsang Souchong tea, orange zest, and heather.
• Palate: Smooth and oily with campfire embers, sherry sweetness, dry oak spice, smoked chocolate, orange Jaffa cake, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, nuts, and autumnal notes.
• Finish: Long and warming, featuring gentle wood smoke, dried fruit, caramelized walnuts, spicy ash, apple seeds, and dry wood.

THE CASKHOUND 18 Years Old 2007 is presented in a 700 ml bottle with a limited edition of 250 bottles, released on January 19, 2026. Priced fairly at €100, it is available exclusively at whisky fairs and events such as THE VILLAGE 2026 and WHISKYMESSE RÜSSELSHEIM 2026, ensuring a live tasting experience.
