Saltire Rare Malt Unveils Cigar Malt Edition 2, a 15 Year Old Inchgower

The Second Cigar Malt

Saltire Rare Malt, the independent bottler from Falkland in Fife, has unveiled Cigar Malt Edition 2, the second release in its Cigar Malt series.

The series launched with an 18 year old single malt from the now closed Speyside Distillers, which sold out after its release. The new edition is a 15 year old single malt from Inchgower Distillery.

The cask was hand selected by the whisky writers Hans and Becky Offringa for its rich character, complexity and distinctive flavour profile. It is a first fill ex Oloroso sherry hogshead that yielded 298 bottles at 48.8% ABV.

Saltire Rare Malt describes the whisky as medium bodied with a long finish, made to complement a fine cigar or to be enjoyed on its own.

Official Tasting Notes

Nose: orange marmalade, cherry pipe tobacco, stewed red apples, ground cloves, honeycomb and warm armchair leather.

Palate: well balanced and medium bodied, revealing layers of fruit, spice and depth.

Finish: long and lingering.

The company was founded in Falkland by Nigel Heywood and Keith Rennie. It was named Best Newcomer at the Scottish Whisky Awards 2025 and Rising Star Brand at the Golden Whisky Awards 2026 in Taiwan.
