The Polo Collection Moves to the Middle East
Royal Salute has released the 21 Years Old Desert Jewel Polo Edition, the eighth edition of its Polo Collection. For the first time the series turns to the Middle East, paying tribute to Dubai and Abu Dhabi as major polo destinations.
The design draws on a region where desert landscapes speak of the past and skyscrapers look to the future. The turquoise flagon reflects the clear waters of the Gulf, while the gift box is illustrated with dunes, busy souks and skylines.
A Full Pedro Ximénez Finish
Master Blender Emeritus Sandy Hyslop gave the 21 year old blend a full finish in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. He described the result as feeling like the discovery of a hidden jewel, which gives the edition its name.
Malcolm Borwick, Royal Salute's World Polo Ambassador, spoke of the magnetic energy of the region that inspired the release.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: sweet cranberry, glazed cherry and cinnamon.
Palate: mango, blood orange, juicy dates and treacle tart, warmed by ginger and pink pepper.
Finish: soft and velvety.

The edition is available now in limited quantities from selected specialist retailers and will be presented at InterWhisky in Wiesbaden from 20 to 22 November.
