An Accessible Way into Old Particular

Douglas Laing & Co., the independent family company based in Glasgow since 1948, has added a Small Batch Collection to its Old Particular range. It brings three 8 year old single malts: Ardmore 8 Years Old Old Particular Small Batch Douglas Laing, Dailuaine 8 Years Old Old Particular Small Batch Douglas Laing and Caol Ila 8 Years Old Old Particular Small Batch Douglas Laing.

The collection is positioned as an accessible entry into Old Particular, keeping the character of each distillery in carefully selected casks. All three are bottled at 48.4% ABV in 0.7 l bottles, with no colouring and no chill filtration, at a recommended price of €49.97 each.

Ardmore, Dailuaine and Caol Ila

Ardmore 8 Years Old from the Highlands was matured in ex bourbon barrels. Dailuaine 8 Years Old from Speyside was matured in ex sherry butts and shows the more powerful, sherried side of the distillery. Caol Ila 8 Years Old from Islay was matured in ex North American hogsheads.

Each label has its own colour: purple for Ardmore, crimson for Dailuaine and navy for Caol Ila. All three carry the words Small Batch, 8 Glorious Years Old and Genuinely Small Batch.

Official Tasting Notes

Ardmore: heather honey, vanilla and light fruits on the nose with the gentle smoke of the Highland distillery. The palate brings sweet malt, ripe apple, baked pear and soft oak spice, and the finish is warm, with honeyed sweetness, pepper and earthy notes.

Dailuaine: dried fruits, dark chocolate, orange peel and spicy oak on the nose, then molasses sweetness, roasted nuts and baking spices, with espresso and leather on a long finish.

Caol Ila: coastal smoke, citrus and sweet malted barley on the nose. The palate offers maritime notes, lemon zest, green apple and pepper, and the long finish carries campfire ash, sea salt and soft oak.
