Kirsch Import Expands with Nine New Signatory Releases and Glen Moray Xperience

Kirsch Import introduces nine fresh expressions to the German market, spotlighting seven new single casks from Signatory Vintage, alongside a North British single grain and the third release from Glen Moray’s Xperience Collection. Among these, the North British 18 Years Old 2008 Signatory Vintage highlights the often overlooked category of high-quality single grain whisky, aged 18 years and bottled at 46% ABV without chill-filtration or added color.

Cask Strength and Sherry Maturation Across Varied Distilleries

The Signatory Vintage releases reveal a spectrum of maturation styles and distillery characters. Notable are the Benriach 2015/2026 finished in first-fill Amontillado, the Aultmore 2011/2026 with a first-fill PX cask finish, and the 18-year-old Caol Ila 2007/2026 matured in oloroso sherry butts. Ben Nevis’s robust profile benefits from exclusive maturation in a second-fill Port Pipe. The 11-year-old Aberfeldy and 17-year-old Balmenach offer first-fill oloroso sherry cask expressions, with Balmenach notably rare among original bottlings. Knockando’s 15-year-old release combines Oloroso refinement for a sweet-spicy complexity.

Tasting Notes: From Nutty Woods to Spiced Apple Pie

The Benriach 2015/2026 offers pronounced hazelnut and walnut on the nose with dark chocolate and sweet raisin palate notes. Its finish is long and nutty. Aultmore’s PX finish introduces sun-dried figs and ripe oranges aromatically, evolving into full-bodied dark chocolate with a spicy ginger finish. Caol Ila's 18-year-old balance peat smoke and maritime iodine with fig sweetness and smoky/peppery palate layers. Ben Nevis delivers dark berries and cocoa aromas, with a dry, woody finish. Aberfeldy combines sherry sweetness and honey with raisin and chocolate complexity. Balmenach and Knockando’s oloroso finishes enhance nutty and sweet-spicy notes, respectively.

The North British 2008/2026 single grain blends first-fill sherry and refill bourbon casks, presenting honeyed nose and smooth palate rich in vanilla, caramel, grain nuances, and dried fruit. Its long finish emphasizes elegant oak structure.

Glen Moray’s Forbidden Fruit from the Xperience Collection is aged first in bourbon barrels, then in French Calvados casks, enriching the whisky with fresh apple blossoms, toffee, and pastries on the nose. The palate recalls spiced apple pie with creamy vanilla and fine candy sweetness. The finish lingers with oak, poached pears, and clove.
