New Release: Ardbeg Trudernish 15 Years Old Is Part of the Distillery's New Core Range
Ardbeg has unveiled Trudernish, a 15 year old single malt that becomes the distillery's first permanent 15 year old and arrives as part of a complete redesign of Ardbeg's core range. The whisky takes its name from the historic settlement of Trudernish on Islay's southern coast and joins the 10 year old and An Oa in the distillery's permanent lineup.
What Is Ardbeg Trudernish?
The Ardbeg Trudernish 15 Years Old is a single malt Scotch whisky distilled and bottled at Ardbeg on Islay. It is matured in three cask types, bourbon barrels, new charred oak casks and Oloroso sherry casks, and bottled at 48.8% ABV. The whisky is non chill filtered with no added coloring, presented in straw gold.
"A new whisky is always momentous at Ardbeg: our first permanent 15 year old, Ardbeg Trudernish, is truly one to celebrate."
Part of Ardbeg's Redesigned Core Range
Trudernish launches alongside a complete redesign of Ardbeg's core range, the distillery's first full packaging update in years. The new look carries storytelling illustrations and enlarged labels across the range, rolling out globally from autumn 2026. Distillery Manager Bryony McNiven said the release is the perfect dram to toast Ardbeg's new look. Trudernish has already been awarded a Double Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2026.
Tasting Profile and Cask Makeup
On the nose, Trudernish offers earthy peat and woodsmoke over vanilla cream, green apple, pear and pine resin, with a thread of heather honey. The palate is creamy and full bodied, carrying Ardbeg's familiar peat alongside dark liquorice, milk chocolate, toasted nuts and stone fruit. The finish is long and smoky, with peat embers, vanilla pods and roasted nuts.
The three cask types each contribute to the profile: bourbon barrels lend vanilla and citrus character, new charred oak adds structure and spice, and Oloroso sherry casks bring dried fruit depth. The 48.8% ABV bottling strength sits between the standard 46% and Ardbeg's cask strength releases.
