myBar by David Gran Spring 2026: Seven Distinct Whisky Releases
myBar by David Gran Spring Whisky Release 2026 Showcases Seven Distinct Expressions
The independent bottler myBar by David Gran from the Allgäu region presents its spring 2026 whisky release featuring seven new bottlings. These bottles highlight a wide range of maturation styles, reflecting David Gran’s signature approach of refining primarily Scottish whiskies with creative cask finishes in his own cask warehouse at the foot of the Alps. This collection includes six single malts aged between 5 and 21 years alongside an innovative blended whisky, combining classic and experimental cask profiles.
Maturation & Flavor Profile
David Gran’s new lineup displays a fascinating palette of cask influences. They range from traditional sherry and red wine casks to more unusual finishes such as tequila, gin, Muscat, Tokaji, Marsala, and Pedro-Ximénez. Each whisky’s maturation scheme is carefully crafted to develop complex and balanced aromas. For instance, the Nectar of Alba 2011 benefits from a small Oloroso firkin maturation followed by a Muscat cask finish, while The Deer of Neraville 2005 spent two decades first in bourbon casks then finishing in a Pedro-Ximénez cask to marry smoky peat with rich sweetness. The Whisky Experiment No. XIII departs further with a gin cask finish over a peated blended whisky base, offering a modern aromatic twist.
Tasting Notes
• Nose: Varies from fine fruits, subtle herbs, and honey sweetness (Nectar of Alba), to mild peat smoke and prunes (The Deer of Neraville), and spicy, herbal notes with strong peat smoke (Whisky Experiment No. XIII).
• Palate: Includes flavors such as honey, yellow fruits, oak spice, and pepper (Nectar of Alba); sweet, creamy, fruity, and spicy layers (Gilded Majesty); strong maritime peat smoke with fruity-sweet elements (The Deer of Neraville); and pine needle smoke with subtle sweetness (Whisky Experiment No. XIII).
• Finish: Long-lasting and creamy with fruity spice (Nectar of Alba); mouth-filling with fine herbs and light fruits (Gilded Majesty); smoky and full-bodied with persistent sweetness (The Deer of Neraville); campfire smoke and subtle sweetness (Whisky Experiment No. XIII).
