The 2026 Edition of Rare Cask

The Macallan has released Rare Cask 2026 Release, the latest edition of its annual Rare Cask single malt. Like earlier editions such as Rare Cask 2023 Release and Rare Cask 2022 Release, it carries no age statement and is bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.

The year of release is printed on both the label and the gift box, which keeps each edition distinct for collectors.

Chosen for One Note

Rare Cask is created only from oak casks that show an intense sweet raisin note together with a rich, smooth complexity. Each year, the Whisky Mastery Team reviews casks at the estate, and only a small share of them meet that standard.

The casks are predominantly sherry seasoned European oak, which The Macallan credits with the character and the colour of the whisky. The colour is natural, described by The Macallan as ruby mahogany.

Nose: soft notes of rich raisin, joined by a gentle lift of fresh apple, lemon and orange.

Palate: intense sweet raisin dominates, while vanilla and dark chocolate unfold with a touch of light lemon zest.

Finish: long, rich and velvety.
