Macallan The Finale: A Night on Earth Ends in New Orleans

Macallan The Finale: A Night on Earth Ends in New Orleans
The last chapter of A Night on Earth
After five releases, the series is over: The Macallan is ending A Night on Earth in New Orleans. The Macallan A Night On Earth The Finale has been available since 3 November 2026 and celebrates New Year's Eve in the city regarded as the birthplace of the cocktail.
The key facts: 43% ABV, 70cl, no age statement, matured in sherry seasoned American and European oak. In the UK, The Macallan gives a recommended price of around €115 (£96).
Creative Director Jaume Ferras says the release celebrates "not only the end of this series, but also the excitement and optimism that every new beginning brings."
The whisky
On the nose, The Macallan describes orange peel with cinnamon, clove and star anise. The palate brings nutmeg, creamy vanilla, almond praline and rich spice, with dried fruit and cherries. The finish lingers with sweet oak and soft spice.
The distillery credits the sweetness to the American oak and the warming spice to the European oak. Senior Whisky Maker Diane Stuart calls the result "vibrant, harmonious and unapologetically bold". The brass colour is meant to recall the city's brass bands, and the label reads "Natural Colour".
Three paintings by Hill Spriggins
The Macallan brings in a new artist for this series each year. This time it is New Orleans-born painter Hill Spriggins, who drew on her own memories of New Year's Eve in the city. Her three artworks run across the layers of the packaging and take in bustling jazz clubs, vibrant streets and quieter moments as dawn breaks.
"Growing up in New Orleans, New Year's Eve was always filled with music, movement and an incredible sense of togetherness," says Spriggins. The outer pack has a textured surface that echoes the feel of canvas.
Five releases, five nights
Here is the complete series.
In Scotland: Hogmanay, the Scottish New Year, designed by Erica Dorn.
The Journey (2023): the annual trip home to loved ones, designed by Nini Sum.
In Jerez de la Frontera (2024): New Year's Eve in southern Spain, designed by Jerez-born María Melero.
The First Light (2025): the year's first sunrise in New Zealand, designed by Bonnie Brown.
The Finale (2026): New Year's Eve in New Orleans, designed by Hill Spriggins.
No premium for the last chapter
You might expect a final chapter to cost more. Here it is the other way round: the UK recommended price was around €132 (£110) for Jerez in 2024, around €118 (£99) for The First Light in 2025 and is now around €115 (£96). All euro figures use the current exchange rate.
The wood changes too: The First Light included a small share of American oak that had previously held bourbon. For The Finale, The Macallan names only sherry seasoned casks, as it did for Jerez.
What this means for collectors
With The Finale the series is complete, and five releases become a fixed set. The Macallan gives no bottle count, and the release is available globally, so it is too early to talk about rarity.
In our view, the appeal lies more in the complete set. Anyone collecting that way should keep the packaging, because in this series it tells a large part of the story.
Price and availability
The Finale is available globally through The Macallan's website and The Macallan Estate Boutique, and in the UK from selected specialist retailers. The recommended price of around €115 (£96) applies to the UK, and the press release gives no official euro price.
