Komoro Origin Is the First Single Malt From Japan's Komoro Distillery
A Debut Three Years in the Making
Komoro Distillery, located high in the town of Komoro in Japan, has unveiled Komoro Origin, its first single malt. It arrives a little over three years after the distillery began distilling in 2023 and sets the style for future releases.
The whisky is built on a balance of fruit character, oak integration and mouthfeel, guided by master blender Ian Chang.
The Bottling
Komoro Origin is bottled at 48% ABV in 700ml and 200ml sizes. The label pairs the gold KOMORO wordmark with the brush-stroke kanji for Komoro and a fine drawing of the distillery building.
First Release Week
The release opens with a launch event, KOMORO = KANPAI, on 6 November 2026. From 7 to 15 November, the distillery hosts its First Release Week, with masterclasses led by Ian Chang and sessions by chief educator Eddie Ludlow, held in English with Japanese translation.
Availability
Komoro Origin is sold at the distillery in Japan from 7 November 2026, with no online sales planned. Further details are published on komoro-first-release.com.
It is listed on Spiritory as Komoro Origin.
