This release, Kilchoman 8 Years Old 2018 Hilgering Wine House Exclusive Cask Nr.18 , marks an intriguing expression of Kilchoman’s signature peated style enriched by tropical influences. It is the result of a collaboration with the Dortmund-based Hilgering Wine House, a family business dating back to 1891 that has steadily built a strong reputation in whisky selection over 25 years.

Maturation & Flavor Profile

Distilled on 17 July 2018 and drawn on 17 March 2026, the whisky spent nearly eight years in cask no. 18/729, a Rum Cask originating from Martinique where Rhum Agricole is produced from fresh sugar cane juice. This maturation imparts an elegant freshness and subtle vegetal spice that complement Kilchoman’s naturally smoky, maritime character. Bottled at cask strength with 54.8% ABV, the whisky balances intense peat smoke and island spices with ripe exotic fruits, citrus zest, vanilla, and restrained oak influence.
