During his early years, Lumsden identified a small handful of casks with the potential for exceptional longevity and depth.

In 1999, when the liquid had reached considerable age, he selected a parcel comprising mostly Bourbon cask whisky with a smaller portion from Sherry casks and married them together in a single refill hogshead. This vessel, chosen for its tight cooperage and gentle wood influence, would hold the married spirit for the next 25 years, allowing the elements to harmonize and deepen. After five decades in total maturation, Lumsden deemed the whisky ready to share with collectors.

The resulting liquid reveals itself as remarkably rich mahogany in color. Its aromatics unfold as baked oranges, sultanas, nutmeg, and cardamom, with a herbal top note threading through. On the palate, the mouthfeel is gently peppery, followed by bold flavors of toffee, stewed Assam tea leaves, birch tar, cinnamon, and hints of grape must. The finish extends long and slowly, revealing aniseed, treacle toffee, and eucalyptus.

After visiting the distillery and tasting the whisky, Pincus and his partner Laurie, along with their studio team, spent more than three years handcrafting each bespoke vessel. The artists developed 50 custom color pigments, each inspired by elements of the whisky's tasting profile, and applied them to create patterns across all 149 pieces. No two vessels are identical, yet collectively they form a tessellated wall installation titled "Together in Spirit."
