30 years of the Christmas Malt

With the Glenfarclas Christmas Edition Vintage 2016 30th Anniversary Germany Exclusive Limited Edition, Glenfarclas marks an anniversary: since 1996, a limited vintage distilled at Christmas time has appeared each year for the German market.

The new release is available now and, like its predecessors, remains exclusive to Germany.

Oloroso in the clear bottle

The single malt was distilled in December 2016 and bottled in 2026. It matured fully in Oloroso sherry casks in the distillery's traditional dunnage warehouses.

The liquid is intensely dark. This edition appears for the first time in the clear Glenfarclas bottle.

Strength and presentation

The whisky is bottled at 50.3% ABV, without chill filtration and with no colouring. Last year's edition, the Glenfarclas Christmas Edition Vintage 2015 Limited Edition, came in at 50% ABV.

Each 70cl bottle is individually numbered and comes in a gift box.

The tasting notes

Nose: Oloroso sherry, spices, fine nutty aromas and Christmas cake.

Palate: Intense sherry aromas meet cinnamon, toffee, dark chocolate and cooked fruit.

Finish: Powerful and long, spicy and fruity, with notes of orange peel and intense Demerara sweetness.

To taste in Munich

The new edition takes centre stage at the Glenfarclas Tasting on Wednesday, 25 November 2026. It starts at 19:30 at the Spiritory Shop in Munich and costs €49 per person.
