Glenfarclas Marks 190 Years With the Final Release in Its Anniversary Trilogy

Glenfarclas has released the 190th Anniversary Limited Edition , the closing chapter in the Speyside distillery's Anniversary Trilogy that began with its 175th and 185th anniversary bottlings. The whisky marries spirit distilled across five decades into a single malt bottled at 51.4% ABV, the modern equivalent of 90 British Proof, the measure Glenfarclas used to state alcohol strength for the first 154 years of its history since its founding in 1836.

Design & Presentation

The gift tube reproduces Glenfarclas labels from across the decades, tracing the distillery's history back to its founding. The packaging reflects what the distillery calls its three defining principles: direct fired stills, maturation in the dunnage warehouses, and full maturation in Oloroso sherry casks.

Maturation & Flavor Profile

Distillery Manager Callum A. Fraser, named Scotland's Master Distiller of the Year at the 2026 Icons of Whisky Awards, selected the casks for the release together with Managing Director Douglas Belford, a Master of the Quaich since 2025. Together they married 78 casks spanning five decades, moving from fruity spirit distilled in the 1970s through the rich sherry character of the 1980s and 1990s to the toffee and caramel notes of casks laid down in the 2000s. The blend closes with spirit from 2014, the year Fraser introduced a new yeast strain that brought fresh green apple notes into the distillery's flavor profile.

Tasting Notes

• Palate: Smooth, rich and velvety, with green apples, sherry sweetness and spicy Christmas cake.
• Finish: Long, with a touch of dark chocolate and fresh tobacco.

The Glenfarclas 190th Anniversary Limited Edition is bottled at 700ml and 51.4% ABV, limited to 15,000 bottles worldwide. It is now available on Spiritory from 123 euros including shipping.
