Douglas Thomson Unveils Three Limited Summer 2026 Scotch Whiskies

Douglas Thomson returns with its Summer Release 2026, delivering a trio of limited-edition Scotch whiskies under the collective title Quiet Spoon 13 Years Old 2013 The Author’s Dram Douglas Thomson "The Author’s Dram." This release features a 13-year-old Highland Blended Malt alongside two aged Single Grains from Port Dundas and Strathclyde, all bottled at a consistent drinking strength of 46.3% ABV. The series showcases a unique summer drinking experience through diverse cask influences and age statements.

Maturation & Flavor Profile

Each whisky in the collection is matured in distinct cask types that shape its character. The 13-year-old Quiet Spoon 13 Years Old 2013 The Author’s Dram Douglas Thomson "The Quiet Spoon" matured in a 2nd-fill Sauternes cask, imparting ripe apricot, yellow fruit, honey sweetness, vanilla, and fine spice notes. The 23-year-old Port Dundas 23 Years Old 2003 The Author’s Dram Douglas Thomson Port Dundas, matured in a 1st-fill Pedro Ximénez quarter cask, delivers dark fruitiness with raisins, dates, ripe plums, dark chocolate, fine spice, and matured oak. Meanwhile, the 15-year-old Strathclyde 15 Years Old 2010 The Author’s Dram Douglas Thomson Strathclyde Single Grain, finished in a 1st-fill brandy barrel, offers intense fruitiness with ripe grapes, apricots, candied fruits, vanilla, spices, and a warming wood note.

The uniform 46.3% ABV highlights the distinct cask influences while maintaining summer-appropriate accessibility.
