Bruichladdich Old Skool 10yo: A 25th Anniversary Islay Tribute

Bruichladdich Old Skool 10yo: A 25th Anniversary Islay Tribute
Bruichladdich Celebrates 25 Years with Old Skool 10yo
Bruichladdich 10 Years Old 25th Anniversary Limited Release commemorates Bruichladdich’s 25th anniversary with a distinctive ten-year-old single malt. Distilled entirely from barley grown and harvested on Islay, this release reinforces the brand’s dedication to provenance and island authenticity. It honors the 14 Islay farms supplying barley, highlighting Bruichladdich’s unique relationship with local growers since reopening in 2001.
Design & Presentation
The whisky is presented in Bruichladdich’s proprietary bottle, which features 60% recycled glass content. Its label design takes inspiration from the brand’s 1980s bottlings, merging a retro aesthetic with modern identity cues — a visual nod to the Old Skool name.
Maturation & Flavor Profile
Matured primarily in first-fill bourbon casks (95%), with a smaller portion aged in first-fill Sauternes white wine casks (5%), this 10-year-old is bottled at a robust 50% ABV. The cask combination supports a flavor profile that balances bright fruit notes with creamy, coastal influences rooted in the Islay terroir.
Tasting Notes
• Nose: Apricot, nectarine, red plum, creamy vanilla custard, barley sugar, orange blossom, fresh geranium leaves, soft briny sea breeze, hints of coconut and crème caramel.
• Palate: Balanced and viscous; juicy stoned fruits with citrus lift; barley sugar, stewed pear, ripe apple; creamy coconut, caramelized vanilla custard; warming clove and ginger; toasted almond, golden brown sugar, subtle minerality for complexity.
• Finish: Apricot jam, toasted coconut, grapefruit and lemon zest; lingering sweet barley sugar and gently toasted oak embers.
