Two iconic Islay distilleries, Bowmore and Laphroaig, both part of the Suntory Global Spirits portfolio, have launched their special Fèis Ìle 2026 bottlings ahead of the renowned annual Islay Festival of Music & Malt. These releases highlight distinct maturation approaches that celebrate the unique heritage of Islay whisky. Among them, Bowmore 9 Years Old Fèis Ìle 2026 stands out as a bold single malt expression crafted specifically for the festival.

Maturation & Flavor Profile

Bowmore’s entry is a 9-year-old single cask matured in a First-Fill Pedro-Ximénez Sherry cask, emphasizing the influence of traditional floor-malted barley in the mashbill. Bottled at a robust 55.4% ABV, this cask strength whisky taps into rich sherry-derived complexity.

Meanwhile, Laphroaig pushes boundaries with its Càirdeas French Oak bottling, matured entirely in French oak casks for the first time in the distillery’s history. Bottled at 52.6% ABV, this expression promises a novel dimension to the peat-forward profile typical of Laphroaig.

These releases exemplify Islay’s tradition and innovation in single malt whisky.

Release & Availability

Bowmore 9 Years Old Fèis Ìle 2026 is produced in a limited run of 641 bottles, each containing 700ml, and is offered at £130. This bottling is available exclusively at the Bowmore distillery and through Spiritory.

Collectors and enthusiasts interested in Laphroaig’s French oak expression will find it available from May 23rd at a price of £89 via Spiritory and the distillery.
