Baoilleach Distillery, a boutique producer located in Carrigart, County Donegal, has launched its inaugural whiskey, An Chéad "The First." Known for being one of Ireland’s smallest whiskey distilleries, producing just 50 casks annually, Baoilleach’s new release represents a significant milestone since the distillery began spirit production in 2019 and distilled its first cask of Irish whiskey in 2022. This debut underlines their revival of Donegal whiskey traditions, highlighted by the use of local and diverse grains.

Maturation & Flavor Profile

An Chéad "The First" is a double-distilled, peated blend crafted from malted and unmalted barley, rye, and oats. The maturation took place in Quarter Casks and a Hogshead previously seasoned with Ruby Port, imparting a unique depth and complexity to the spirit. The whiskey is available in two distinct bottlings: a robust cask strength at 58.7% ABV and a more approachable 47.9% ABV version, each sealed in 700 ml bottles.
