A New Exceptional Cask Release
Aberfeldy has released the 27 Years Old Madeira Double Cask Finish, the latest addition to its Exceptional Cask Series. The single malt matured for almost 21 years in ex-bourbon casks before spending six further years in selected Madeira casks.
Malt Master Stephanie Macleod monitored the whisky throughout its finishing period, checking how the flavour developed in each cask. In the words reported by WhiskyExperts, a great cask finish should feel like a natural extension of the whisky rather than something imposed upon it.
From the Golden Burn
Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery was founded in 1898 in Highland Perthshire and draws its water from the Pitilie Burn, known for its alluvial gold deposits. The distillery is known for a honeyed, gently fruity house style, which this release takes into rich, Madeira-influenced territory.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: rich and inviting, a luxurious dram.
Palate: robust notes of red apples drizzled with honey, with hints of candied orange peel.
Finish: sweet cinnamon spice.

Bottled at 55.4% ABV and limited to 276 bottles, the release has a recommended retail price of £600. It is available from 20 October 2026 exclusively at the distillery and its online shop.
