Aberargie Launches Its Inaugural Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Morrison family-owned Aberargie Distillery near Perth is unveiling its first-ever single malt, the Aberargie 8 Years Old 2017 , marking a patient eight-year journey that began with distillation in 2017. Unlike many newcomers releasing early expressions, Aberargie embodies a barley-to-bottle philosophy, controlling the process from its own 300-acre farm to craft a distinctly authentic whisky. This debut release is a milestone that reflects nearly a decade of dedicated development, ready for worldwide availability starting March 3rd at 10 AM Scottish time.

Design & Presentation

Every aspect of the bottle reflects Aberargie's agricultural roots and family heritage. The custom-designed glass features embossed lettering and a leather neck label that pays tribute to the distillery’s farming origins. The fine horizon line on the bottle echoes the gentle hills surrounding the barley fields, emphasizing a close connection to the land rather than mere decoration.

Maturation & Flavor Profile

This inaugural release matures in a combination of first-fill bourbon and sherry casks, bottled at a robust 48.2% ABV, non-chill filtered, and without added coloring. The barley used consists entirely of distillery-grown varieties, split between 52% Golden Promise and 48% Laureate, securing a clearly defined house style developed independently.
