Macallan, Bowmore, Highland Park, Ardbeg and Laphroaig led Spiritory's Black Friday 2025 selection, with a median saving of 33% against RRP. Here is what that pattern says about 2026.

Which Whisky Brands Go on Sale on Black Friday?

Whisky brands that usually appear in Black Friday offers are large distilleries with well known core ranges and age statements, such as The Macallan, Bowmore, Highland Park, Balvenie and Glenfiddich. In Spiritory's 2025 Black Friday selection, 56 bottles carried a published saving of 12% to 66% against RRP, with a median of 33%.

Key Takeaways

  • The Macallan had the most bottles in last year's selection with nine, then Bowmore with seven, Highland Park with six, and Ardbeg and Laphroaig with four each.

  • Published savings against RRP ranged from 12% to 66%, with a median of 33%. Eleven of 56 bottles saved 40% or more.

  • Ardbeg (12% to 31%) and Laphroaig (25% to 35%) sat at the lower end, so a famous name does not guarantee a deep saving.

  • Japanese 100th Anniversary Editions from Hakushu and Yamazaki saved 42% to 56%, so country alone is a poor guide.

  • No independent bottler single casks appeared. The 2026 selection goes live in November, and no bottle is named or promised here.

Tip: Write down the exact edition, release year and bottle size of any bottle you want before Black Friday starts. A saving of 30% on the wrong edition is worth less than 20% on the right one.

What Did Spiritory Feature on Black Friday 2025?

Spiritory featured 56 bottles on Black Friday 2025, each with a published saving against its RRP. Savings ran from 12% to 66%, and the median was 33%. Eleven bottles saved 40% or more, while eight saved 25% or less. Most of the selection came from a short list of big names: nine Macallan, seven Bowmore, six Highland Park, four Ardbeg and four Laphroaig, followed by Balvenie, Hibiki, Hakushu, Yamazaki, Glenfiddich and Midleton.

The rest were single bottles from Glenlivet, Glenrothes, Glen Grant, Johnnie Walker, Royal Salute, Redbreast, The Naked Malt, Elijah Craig and Legent, plus four tequilas. All figures below describe last year's selection only. They show a pattern, not a promise for 2026.

Macallan Had the Most Bottles, With Savings of 26% to 39%

The Macallan was the largest group in last year's selection (featured last year, not a current offer). Its nine bottles saved between 26% and 39% against RRP, with a median of 33%. Core range names led the way, framed here as featured last year: Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Years Old at 35%, Double Cask 15 Years Old at 32% and Double Cask 18 Years Old 2024 at 33%.

Older and special bottles appeared too. Both Double Cask 30 Years Old releases (2022 and 2023) saved 33%, Rare Cask 2023 saved 34% and the Harmony Collection Inspired by Intense Arabica saved 39%. The smallest savings were on Sherry Oak 18 Years Old (26%) and Sherry Oak 25 Years Old (27%). The saving depends on the edition, not only on the name. Bowmore and Highland Park Offered Wide Age Ranges

Bowmore had seven bottles and the widest spread of old age statements. Savings ran from 23% to 43%. The deepest were Bowmore 25 Years Old at 43% and the 30 Years Old Edition 2023 at 42%. The 2021 and 2022 editions saved 38% and 37%. Bowmore 40 Years Old 2024 saved 30%, the 21 Years Old Masters Selection Aston Martin 2021 saved 33% and the 29 Years Old Timeless Series saved 23%.

Highland Park had six bottles, from 23% to 37%. The age statements from 15 to 25 years sat in a tight band: 15 Years Old at 28%, 18 Years Old at 29%, 21 Years Old at 26% and 25 Years Old at 23%. The Cask Strength Release No. 4 and the Vintage 1990 saved 37% and 29%.

Ardbeg and Laphroaig Saved Less on Average

Peated Islay malts were present, but with smaller savings than most of the selection. The four Ardbeg bottles saved 12% to 31%, with a median of 25%. The lowest was Ardbeg 24 Years Old Y2K at 12%, the lowest saving of all 56 bottles. Corryvreckan saved 19%, and Traigh Bhan Batch 4 and Batch 5 both saved 31%.

Laphroaig's four bottles saved 25% to 35%. Elements 1.0 and Elements 2.0 saved 25% each, Laphroaig 30 Years Old 2024 saved 28% and the 33 Years Old Strong Characters saved 35%. For a buyer, the point is simple: a famous distillery does not guarantee a deep saving, and a limited edition is not a reason to expect one.

Japanese Whisky Showed Some of the Deepest Savings

It is easy to assume Japanese whisky never moves in price. Last year's selection says otherwise for the bottles it contained. The four 100th Anniversary Editions saved between 42% and 56%: Hakushu 12 Years Old at 44%, Hakushu 18 Years Old Peated Malt at 56%, Yamazaki 12 Years Old at 42% and Yamazaki 18 Years Old Mizunara at 48%.

The Hibiki bottles saved 26% for Hibiki Japanese Harmony and 40% for Blossom Harmony 2022, and Legent Yamazaki Cask Finish Blend 2023 saved 36%. These are percentages against RRP, so a high starting RRP can produce a large percentage. The lesson is to look at the bottle and the edition, not the country. Hakushu and Yamazaki bottles without the anniversary label were not part of this selection, so nothing here tells you how they behave.

Balvenie, Glenfiddich and Other Well Known Names

The Balvenie's three bottles saved 32% to 39%: 12 Years Old Montilla Wine Seasoned Cask at 32%, 21 Years Old Portwood at 36% and 16 Years Old French Oak at 39%. Glenfiddich had two, the 16 Years Old Aston Martin 2025 at 28% and the 21 Years Old Gran Reserva Chinese New Year 2025 at 37%.

The single bottles gave the widest spread. Glenrothes 42 Years Old saved 66%, the deepest of the whole selection, followed by Royal Salute 38 Years Old Stone of Destiny at 53% and Glen Grant 18 Years Old at 51%. Glenlivet 21 Years Old The Sample Room Collection saved 35%, The Naked Malt 38% and Johnnie Walker Blue Label 26%. The deepest savings belonged to very old or prestige bottles rather than to entry range ones.

Irish, American and Tequila Bottles Rounded Out the List

Ireland was represented by Midleton and Redbreast. Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy saved 39%, Midleton Very Rare Vintage Release 2024 saved 25% and Redbreast 21 Years Old saved 28%. The one American whiskey, Elijah Craig Small Batch saved 22%.

Four tequilas also featured: Clase Azul Reposado at 27%, Clase Azul Plata at 26%, Don Julio 1942 at 28% and Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Extra Anejo at 50%. The pattern matches the rest of the list: large, recognisable producers.

What Rarely Appeared, and What It Means for 2026

Some kinds of whisky were missing from last year's selection. None of the 56 bottle names points to an independent bottler single cask. Editorial reasoning, not a sourced fact: single casks from independent bottlers are usually sold cask by cask, so there may be no standard RRP to measure a saving against. Limited editions did appear, as the Bowmore and Laphroaig examples show, so a limited release is not automatically excluded. The safer reading is that brands with a published RRP and a regular release rhythm are the ones where a percentage saving can be shown at all.

For 2026, Black Friday falls on Friday 27 November and Cyber Monday on Monday 30 November. Spiritory's Black Friday selection goes live in November. Which bottles it contains is not set, so this article names none and promises no brand. Use last year as a map of likely names, then check the actual selection. How to Read a Black Friday Saving

Two numbers can sit behind the same percentage, so check which one you are looking at. The figures in this article compare a bottle with its RRP. A shop's own advertised reduction is a different comparison. Section 11 of the German Preisangabenverordnung (PAngV) says that a seller who must state a total price has to name the lowest total price charged to consumers in the 30 days before the reduction whenever it announces a price reduction on goods. Exceptions exist, for example for individual reductions. The full wording is published at gesetze-im-internet.de.

Also compare the edition and release year on the label, the bottle size (70cl is the common size) and the box condition. Two bottles with the same name but different years can sell at very different prices.

Tip: Compare a Black Friday price with what the same bottle cost over the previous weeks, not only with the RRP. Start early so you know the usual level before the weekend.
