Wu Dram Clan Unveils Two Limited Edition Bottlings: A Swedish Smögen & A Tennessee Sour Mash Rarity

Wu fram new releases 2025
Bold New Releases Mark the Start of the WDC Cask Strength Collection and Expand the Liquid Crew Series
Wu Dram Clan, known for its meticulous cask selections and bold character, launches two exclusive bottlings this July—each celebrating whisky craftsmanship across continents. The first release in the new Cask Strength Collection, SMÖGEN 2014 – Cask #13, is a ten-year-old single malt from Sweden with maritime smokiness and tropical flair. Alongside it, the fourth edition in the Liquid Crew series introduces a 21-year-old Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey, a Southern rarity matured in American oak. With limited bottles and robust ABVs, these bottlings are a collector’s dream and a taster’s delight.
Nordic Edge Meets American Heritage
The SMÖGEN 2014 – Cask #13 is housed in the first chapter of Wu Dram Clan’s new Cask Strength Collection, focused on unfiltered, uncolored, natural strength single casks. Distilled in March 2014 at Smögen Whisky AB in Hunnebostrand, Sweden, and aged for 10 years in a Four Roses ex-bourbon barrel, it was bottled in January 2025 at 59.1% ABV. The label is minimalist, allowing the whisky’s bold personality to take center stage, with only 198 bottles available.
Across the Atlantic, the Liquid Crew #04 brings a powerful presence: a Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey distilled in 2003, aged for over two decades in American oak, and bottled at natural cask strength (48.3%). With only 109 bottles, this is an exceptionally rare US whiskey from an undisclosed distillery, wrapped in the distinct visual identity of the Liquid Crew series—urban, edgy, and collector-worthy.
Tropical Smoke & Southern Sophistication
The SMÖGEN bottling offers a unique flavor interplay: mango, papaya, and apricot meld with maritime smoke, representing the bold coastal character of modern Swedish whisky.
"I was in Smögen in 2023 and discovered two casks that immediately stood out: classic, tropical, complex. One of them closed the Lighthouse series, the other—Cask #13—inaugurates our new Cask Strength Collection," shares the Wu Dram Clan team.
The Tennessee Sour Mash, distilled on September 10, 2003, delivers a rich, matured profile:
- Nose: Beeswax, furniture polish, old leather, wet wood
- Palate: Old leather sofa, sweet cornstarch, spicy rosemary, caramel, tree resin
- Finish: Long and warming – an elegant, mature Southern giant
"Finding and bottling a Tennessee Sour Mash over 20 years old was a true gift. Whiskeys like this usually disappear into collections or blends," says Sebastian Jäger, Co-founder of Wu Dram Clan.
A Transatlantic Tribute to Cask Artistry
These two bottlings exemplify Wu Dram Clan’s commitment to authenticity, rarity, and excellence. Whether it’s the smoky clarity of Sweden or the deep maturity of Tennessee, each release is a liquid narrative. For collectors and connoisseurs, these limited editions offer more than just whisky—they offer stories distilled through time.
