New Release Hibiki 21 Years Old — Hiroshi Senju Artist Collection

A meeting of Japanese blending mastery and contemporary art

Hibiki 21 Hiroshi Senju 2025 edition returns in 2025 as a striking limited edition that pairs Suntory’s celebrated 21-year-old Japanese blend with the poetic waterfall imagery of artist Hiroshi Senju. This 70cl, 43% ABV release preserves Hibiki’s signature amber colour and complex bouquet while dressing the bottle in an original artwork titled Waterfall on Colors “Hibiki”, created from crushed oyster shells and mineral pigments and based on ten natural shades of purple — a bold visual statement aimed at collectors, whisky lovers, and design-minded buyers.

Design, presentation and the Artist Collaboration

The label and box create a visual dialogue of colour, movement and balance that mirrors the whisky’s harmony. Hiroshi Senju — a Japanese-born, New York-based painter famed for monumental waterfall and cliff images — combines minimalist Abstract Expressionist language with ancient Japanese techniques; his practice informed the tactile, natural-material construction of the artwork used for this bottling. Senju’s extensive art roles (member of the Japan Art Academy; professor and past president at Kyoto University of Art & Design; ambassador and advisor roles at major Japanese cultural institutions) underline the cultural gravitas behind this collaboration and explain why the release reads as both an art object and a collectible whisky.

Maturation and flavour profile

Hibiki 21 Hiroshi Senju 2025 edition showcases the aromatic DNA of the Suntory house: a harmonious structure on the palate with fine woodiness from sandalwood and the delicate influence of Mizunara oak. On the nose and palate, the blend presents cooked fruits, honey, and dried apricot, wrapped in subtle oak spice — tasting elements that make this 21-year-old distinctly Japanese in character and well suited for collectors of limited edition whiskies.

A refined crossroads of art and whisky: the Hibiki 21 Hiroshi Senju 2025 edition is more than a drink — it is a visual and sensory statement that will appeal to collectors, design lovers, and aficionados seeking a limited-edition Japanese blend with both aesthetic and tasting pedigree.
