The Macallan Unveils Striking New Design for Double Cask, Sherry Oak, and Colour Collection Ranges
The Macallan, one of the world’s most celebrated whisky distilleries, is rolling out a fresh new look for its iconic Double Cask, Sherry Oak, and Colour Collection bottlings. Designed by acclaimed artist David Carson, this update introduces not only redesigned labels and packaging but also a completely reimagined bottle shape inspired by the flowing curves of The Macallan Distillery’s distinctive roofline. This global rollout will take place throughout 2025, marking a significant evolution in The Macallan’s visual identity.
The new bottle design maintains key elements such as the triangular shoulder label, symbolizing the Sherry Triangle of Spain, while introducing a redesigned cask symbol on the back. Cutting-edge security features include a high-tech anti-counterfeit device and a QR code linking to detailed bottling information, blending tradition with innovation for collectors and whisky enthusiasts alike.
The design philosophy behind this refresh is to strike a perfect balance between heritage and modernity. David Carson explains, “Like whisky, design is all about balance. With The Macallan, I wanted to create a visual identity that respects its rich history and encapsulates its forward-thinking spirit.” Jaume Ferras, The Macallan’s Creative Director, adds, “This distinctive new identity offers a multitude of visual cues to tell our story, from the Sherry seasoning to the American and European oak casks that contribute to the complex taste and flavour profiles in every bottle.”
The new packaging will cover the Double Cask 12 years old, Double Cask 15 years old, and Double Cask 18 years old as well as the Sherry Oak 12 years old and Sherry Oak 18 years old, reaffirming The Macallan’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship with a modern touch.
This redesign is more than just a facelift—it is a tribute to The Macallan’s mastery of whisky-making, marrying exquisite single malt tradition with contemporary design innovation to captivate collectors and whisky lovers worldwide.
