In Honoring the First Distillery Manager, Tomintoul Unveils Rare 1966 Single Cask Whisky

Tomintoul 1966 Bourbon Cask

A Tribute to Islay Shaw and Tomintoul’s 60-Year Legacy

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Tomintoul Distillery has released a remarkable single cask expression, paying tribute to its first distillery manager, Islay Shaw. The Tomintoul 1966 Bourbon Cask No. 6077 was distilled under Shaw’s stewardship and has been patiently matured for decades. Limited to just 79 bottles, this exceptional whisky is a collector’s dream, retailing at £17,500 per bottle.

Elegant Design and Exquisite Presentation

This rare release is presented in a bespoke crystal decanter, crafted by the award-winning Glencairn Crystal Studio. Each individually numbered decanter is hand-blown, hand-engraved, and finished with satin gold metal, ensuring that every piece is truly unique. The whisky is housed in a luxurious wooden presentation box, complete with a personally signed booklet by Master Distiller Robert Fleming, providing a certificate of authenticity.

Maturation and Flavor Profile

Distilled in October 1966, this single malt whisky was aged in a specially commissioned bourbon barrel made from American oak staves, emphasizing Tomintoul’s signature smooth and complex character. Bottled at 40.3% ABV, it showcases an intricate balance of fruity, nutty, and spiced flavors.

Master Distiller Robert Fleming, a fourth-generation Speyside distiller, personally selected Cask No. 6077, recognizing its exceptional aging potential and ensuring it reached peak perfection before bottling.
