Ardnahoe Bholsa Debuts at Whiskyschiff Luzern

Ardnahoe new Bholsa
A New Islay Whisky with a Rich Sherry Influence
Ardnahoe Distillery unveils its latest core release, Bholsa, at Switzerland's premier whisky event.
Ardnahoe Distillery, located on the legendary whisky island of Islay, has introduced its latest core release, Ardnahoe Bholsa, at the prestigious Whiskyschiff Luzern. The event, running from March 27-29, 2025, hosts 32 top whisky exhibitors, making it one of Switzerland’s most anticipated whisky gatherings. Named after the dramatic Bholsa caves, this new expression features a maturation profile dominated by over 60% sherry casks, delivering a rich and complex taste experience.
Design and Craftsmanship
Bholsa stays true to Ardnahoe’s commitment to natural presentation: no chill filtration and no added color. Bottled at a robust 50% ABV, this whisky exemplifies the perfect marriage of Islay peat and sherry influence.
Rich Maturation and Flavor Profile
The whisky’s high sherry cask content results in a deep, layered profile, blending sweetness and smoke in perfect harmony.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Red fruits, walnuts, orange zest, and a touch of peat smoke.
- Palate: Raisins, dates, and ripe plums, complemented by classic Islay peat.
- Finish: Long, peppery, and full-bodied.
Meet the Maker: Andrew Laing
Attendees of Whiskyschiff Luzern will have the opportunity to meet Andrew Laing, Co-Founder of Ardnahoe Distillery. While his exclusive tasting session is already sold out, whisky lovers can still sample Bholsa at the Whisky Shop Neumarkt stand on the MS Waldstätter’s upper deck. Andrew Laing will be present to discuss Ardnahoe’s latest releases and single cask bottlings from Hunter Laing.
