Stauning Host

Description

Stauning Høst, Danish for harvest, is a double malt whisky from the Stauning distillery in Jutland, a marriage of the house's single malt and malted rye whiskies. The grains, 100 percent floor malted Danish rye and barley, are kiln dried on site and double distilled through 24 small, direct fired copper pot stills. Maturation across heavily charred new American oak, first fill bourbon and Port barriques brings out vanilla, citrus, apple and red berries, layered with dried fruit, toasted oak and warm spice. Left unfiltered and non chill filtered, it is a distinctive, fruit forward whisky that reflects Stauning's farm to bottle approach to Danish craft distilling.
