Plantation 5 Years, now also sold as Planteray Barbados 5 Years since the brand's 2024 rename, comes from Stade's West Indies Rum Distillery, founded in 1893 and long regarded as one of Barbados's most traditional rum houses. A blend of pot and column still spirit spends three years maturing beside the Caribbean Sea before travelling to south west France for a further two years in ex cognac casks, a double ageing method that builds roundness and depth. The result opens with bakery aromas, pipe tobacco and toasted marshmallow, giving way on the palate to baked orchard fruit and a long, chocolatey finish. It is a considered expression of authentic Barbadian rum making, built for the collector as much as the mixologist.
