Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt Essentials 2026 is a Japanese blended malt, the first of five annual limited editions leading up to the brand's 30th anniversary in 2030. Toasted malt, freshly baked biscuits, apricot jam and mature oak lead the nose, with rich malt sweetness on the palate. It brings together malt whiskies from Yoichi and Miyagikyo, including some distilled in 2000, the year Taketsuru Pure Malt first appeared, and Yoichi remains one of the few distilleries running direct coal fired pot stills. The result is a robust blended malt with a portion of its whisky matured for more than a quarter of a century.
