Midleton Very Rare Irish Chestnut Edition is a single pot still Irish whiskey initially matured in first fill and refill Bourbon barrels, finished in casks crafted entirely from Irish sweet chestnut and bottled at 56.1% ABV. Honey drizzled red apple, caramelised orange peel and melted chocolate lead the nose, with sweet orchard fruits and soft wood tannins on the palate. The whiskey spent five years finishing in the chestnut casks, making it the first in the world finished entirely in Irish sweet chestnut from a single estate. A richly spiced, nutty dram shaped by an uncommon Irish wood.
