Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged 2023 is the inaugural release of a new annual limited edition and represents the oldest bourbon ever released by Maker’s Mark. This expression embodies the distillery’s long-held philosophy of being “aged to taste, not time.” The 2023 edition is a precise marriage of 12- and 11-year-old bourbons, blended at 87% and 13% respectively, and bottled at cask strength at 57.9% ABV. What sets it apart is its unique two-stage maturation: after approximately six years in traditional Kentucky warehouses, the barrels were transferred for a further five to six years into the distillery’s proprietary limestone whisky cellar. The consistently cool environment slows tannin extraction while allowing the bourbon to develop deeper, darker flavours without bitterness. The result is a richly layered, complex older bourbon that remains unmistakably Maker’s Mark in its softness and balance.
