Versinthe Classique 20ans blends two decades of herbal craft with the mystique of the green hour. Produced by Liquoristerie de Provence, based on the original 1999 recipe – once known as “Absinthe Plants Liquor.” In the bottle: 45% ABV and the essence of Provence.
Distilled with wormwood, mugwort, genepi and tarragon – they form the bitter core. Fennel, anise, dill and coriander lend sweetness, depth and a hint of liquorice. Basil, rosemary and angelica add warmth. Lemon verbena and mint bring clarity and lift. In total: 20 botanicals, layered like a chord.
In the glass: pale, clear green. The nose is fresh, herbal and deep. Anise takes centre stage, framed by fennel blossom and dried wormwood. On the palate: full and rounded. Herbaceous-sweet with notes of herbal tea, citrus peel, wild honey and Mediterranean oils. The louche appears instantly when mixed with ice water – the clear liquid turns softly milky.
Versinthe Classique 20ans is traditionally served 1:3 to 1:5 with ice-cold water. Sugar optional – no fire needed. A classic absinthe for late afternoons. For collectors, for connoisseurs, for the green hour.
