Laphroaig 5 Years Old 2021 PeatWave Chapter 25 The Caskhound Cask Nr.5 is an Islay single malt from Laphroaig, distilled in September 2021 and selected by The Caskhound for its PeatWave series, matured for five years in a single first fill ex bourbon barrel and bottled at natural cask strength of 57.1% ABV, without chill filtration or added colour. The nose is surprisingly tame and sweet, with vanilla pudding, ripe banana, honeycomb and lemon meringue over a faint note of extinguished campfire, before the oily palate moves from caramel and vanilla cream to a wave of medicinal smoke, tar and maritime barbecue smoke. The long, ashy finish holds on to vanilla sweetness, oak spice and a pinch of sea salt, and the release is limited to 281 bottles.
