Caroni 1998 Paradise #16 Cask Nr.3929 is a full proof Heavy Trinidad Rum from the long closed Caroni distillery, drawn from a single cask of molasses rum distilled in 1998 and limited to 88 bottles at 60.5% ABV. After tropical ageing in Trinidad until 2019, the cask travelled to Cognac, where the rum rested in glass demijohns with no further wood ageing; the mouth blown bottle is by Massimo Lunardon and the label carries a painting by Che Lovelace. The nose moves from guava, mango, cayenne and pine to varnish and tar, the palate brings petroleum, liquorice, ginger and curry, and the long, silky finish closes on pipe tobacco, raisins and very ripe banana.
