Caroni 1996 Paradise #13 Velier Cask Nr.5607 is a full proof Heavy Trinidad Rum distilled from molasses in 1996 at the closed Caroni Distillery and, like the rest of the Paradise series, moved from the cask to glass demijohns in Cognac, where its wood ageing came to an end. Tar, burnt cane, petroleum and pipe tobacco open over persimmon and mango, the broad palate moves from blood orange to black olive, Cayenne pepper and Lebanon cedar, and the long finish brings kaffir lime, pineapple and passion fruit. Bottled at 62.2% ABV, it is limited to 112 bottles free blown by Massimo Lunardon, with a label painting by Che Lovelace.
