Description
Caperdonich 23 Years Old Single Cask No. 60 from the Distillery Reserve Collection is a rare single cask release from a long-closed distillery, making it a true piece of whisky history. Founded in 1898, Caperdonich operated intermittently until its final closure in 2002 and was demolished in 2010, now considered one of Scotland’s ‘lost distilleries’. This 23-year-old single malt was distilled on January 21, 1994 and bottled on May 25, 2017 from a 3rd fill peated hogshead. As a peated expression, it showcases a lesser-known yet fascinating side of the distillery’s character. On the nose, gentle smoke is intertwined with ripe fruits, subtle herbs and delicate oak spice. The palate offers a balanced combination of light peat smoke, sweet malt, vanilla and spiced wood, complemented by a hint of mineral freshness. The finish is long, refined and lightly smoky with lingering spice. As a single cask release from a closed distillery, this Caperdonich is both a highly collectible bottle and a rare opportunity to experience the unique character of a lost Speyside producer.
