Brugal Maestro Reserva is a modern premium rum from the Dominican Republic, crafted by Maestra Ronera Jassil Villanueva Quintana, a fifth-generation member of the Brugal founding family. This innovative release is built around the proprietary “Dark Aromatic Toasting” technique, developed in-house by Brugal. Ex-sherry casks made from American white oak are first filled with rum, then emptied and heavily toasted, allowing caramelised residues to form within the wood. These specially treated casks are then used to finish a blend of rums matured in both ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. The entire aging process takes place in the tropical climate of the Dominican Republic, enhancing intensity and complexity. Bottled at 41.2% ABV, Brugal Maestro Reserva offers rich aromas of caramel, honey and red fruits, balanced with a hint of smoky oak. On the palate, notes of vanilla and caramel are followed by dark chocolate, dried fruits, toasted nuts and orange peel. The finish is smooth and elegant, with creamy vanilla sweetness balanced by a subtle touch of bitter brown sugar.
