Springbank unveils Fino Cask & Local Barley 10-Year-Old

Campbeltown distillery lines up limited editions spotted in TTB filings

Fourth Sherry Series release joins a farm-to-glass Local Barley from Clochkiel Farm

Springbank is preparing two new whisky bottlings for release, first flagged in recent TTB filings and initially spotted by the 88 Bamboo editorial team—kanpai. The lineup features Springbank 10 Year Old Fino Cask, the fourth installment in the Sherry Series launched in 2022 (following PX, Palo Cortado, and Amontillado), alongside Springbank Local Barley 10 Year Old distilled from Bere barley grown at Clochkiel Farm on the Kintyre peninsula. Both spirits were distilled in July 2015 and are slated to be bottled in the coming month, with retail availability expected shortly after. These limited edition single malts reinforce Springbank’s reputation for tradition-led production and cask-driven character.

Key specs at a glance — Fino Cask: 55% ABV, 11,400 bottles, non-chill-filtered and natural colour; initial 4 years in refill bourbon hogsheads then 6 years in fresh Fino hogsheads (American oak). Local Barley 10: 55.2% ABV, 8,000 bottles, Bere barley from Clochkiel Farm, traditionally floor-malted on site.

Design & Presentation. Labels previewed via TTB submissions indicate classic Springbank styling for both single malts, aligning with the distillery’s understated aesthetic and clear cask provenance cues. Maturation & Flavor Profile. The Fino Cask 10 marries bourbon maturation (first four years) with a six-year finish in fresh Fino hogsheads of American oak, promising a bright, sherry-accented profile without straying from Campbeltown’s hallmark structure. The Local Barley 10 underscores Springbank’s grain-to-glass ethos: Bere barley sourced from Clochkiel Farm, traditionally malted on Springbank’s own floors, then distilled and bottled at a robust 55.2% to preserve texture and character.

Conclusion. With the Sherry Series expanding to include Fino and the Local Barley program continuing with a 10-year-old Bere barley expression, Springbank offers collectors and enthusiasts two focused studies in cask influence and provenance. Full tasting notes and release timing will follow from official channels, but on paper these single malt whisky releases look poised to sell swiftly thanks to clear production detail, strong limited edition credentials, and transparent maturation narratives.
