Midleton Distillery marks its 200th anniversary in 2025 with the launch of the Midleton 28 Years Old Very Rare 200th Anniversary Edition , a prestigious Single Pot Still whiskey. Bottled at a powerful 54.7% ABV and matured for 28 years, this limited edition celebrates the distillery’s craftsmanship and rich heritage. The release highlights Midleton’s mastery by blending its three distinct Single Pot Still styles, sourced from five specially chosen casks.

Design & Presentation

The whiskey is presented in an elegant gift box featuring an artistic depiction of the distillery and its iconic pot stills. A collectible stamp commemorating the 200th anniversary adds a distinct touch, reinforcing the bottle’s role as a collector’s item and a tribute to Midleton’s bicentennial milestone.

Maturation & Flavor Profile

Matured in a combination of first and second fill American oak barrels, the whiskey spent an additional six years in a Mizunara puncheon, a rare Japanese oak influence. This unique maturation process imparts sandalwood and fresh wood spice notes, complementing the vibrant fruit aromas of pineapple, kiwi, and lemon. Classic American oak contributes layers of vanilla, toffee, and heather honey, creating a complex and layered flavor profile.

Kevin O’Gorman, Midleton’s Master Distiller, describes the release as both a celebration and evolution: “The 200th Anniversary Edition is both a celebration and an evolution, remaining true to Midleton Very Rare’s elegant and sophisticated nature whilst embracing the opportunity to explore something new. Release & Availability

This exclusive bottling is limited to 636 bottles and priced at approximately 1,500 euros. It will be available online through the Midleton Distillery Collection starting December 16, as well as in limited quantities at the Midleton Distillery Experience in Cork and the Jameson Distillery Bow Street in Dublin.
