Lochlea, Nc’nean & More: New Limited Whiskies in Germany
Rare Single Malts and Limited Editions Arrive in Germany
Kirsch Import surprises whisky enthusiasts with a new wave of premium bottlings just in time for summer. The line-up includes the robust Lochlea Cask Strength Batch #3, experimental Nc’nean Single Casks matured in Amarone and Calvados wood, Signatory Vintage’s bourbon-matured Ardmore and Craigellachie, and a vibrant Calvados Cask finish from West Cork Distillers. These limited editions are tailored for collectors and connoisseurs looking for bold, seasonal expressions.
Design and Presentation
Each bottle reflects its unique distillery character: Lochlea emphasizes its farm-to-bottle ethos with clean, earthy aesthetics; Nc’nean delights with organic elegance and color-coded cask details; Signatory Vintage stays classic with minimal labels highlighting provenance; and West Cork’s Maritime Range stands out with hand-blown glass inspired by traditional fishing floats.
Maturation and Flavor Profile
Lochlea Cask Strength Batch #3 introduces a bold Lowland profile by blending Oloroso Sherry and ex-Islay Peated casks—an inaugural move for the distillery under new Master Blender Jill Boyd. The result is a 59.8% ABV powerhouse with aromas of red fruits and smoked bacon, followed by cherries, dark molasses, and BBQ smoke on the palate. The finish offers warming spice, floral rose, and oak tannins.
Nc’nean Aon Amarone Cask 20-676 delivers 486 bottles of Highland single malt with cocoa nibs, almond butter, and cardamom cake aromas—marking the first Amarone cask ever used by the distillery. Nc’nean Aon Calvados Cask 17-520, a German-exclusive release of 343 bottles, brings silky notes of apple strudel, vanilla buttercream, and cedarwood, despite its bold 60.1% ABV.
From Signatory Vintage, the Ardmore 2012/2025 (12 years, 60.7%) shines with Highland peat, melon, vanilla, and a ginger finish. Meanwhile, Craigellachie 2009/2025 (15 years, 59.5%) embodies Speyside muscle with tropical fruit, sulfur, and a creamy vanilla ice finish.
West Cork Calvados Cask—the newest addition to the Maritime Series—uses Garnier apple brandy casks to finish its triple-distilled Irish single malt. At 46%, it bursts with apple, pear, almond, and soft vanilla on a balanced palate.
