Epicurean Three Wood Finish: New Limited Edition Whisky
Limited Edition Bottling Showcases the Art of Maturation in Virgin Oak, Bourbon & Sherry Casks
Douglas Laing & Co. continues to impress the whisky world with its unwavering dedication to cask craft. Launching this Saturday, The Epicurean Three Wood Finish is the latest limited-edition release under the Lowland Blended Malt range. Bottled at a bold 54.1% natural cask strength and limited to just 1,920 bottles, this Small Batch expression offers an exceptional exploration of flavor and wood influence — all for a recommended retail price of €77.
A Packaging Tribute to Quality
Presented with a premium foiled label, this release stays true to the brand’s ethos of authenticity. As with all Douglas Laing bottlings, no coloring and no chill-filtration have been used — a clear commitment to preserving the whisky’s natural character. The bottle’s refined aesthetic is a visual nod to the complexity within.
Maturation and Flavor Profile
The Epicurean Three Wood Finish is matured in a combination of **Virgin Oak**, **Bourbon**, and **Sherry** casks — each adding a distinct layer to the final spirit:- Virgin Oak contributes bold spice and toasted depth
- Bourbon barrels infuse sweet vanilla and honey notes
- Sherry casks bring luxurious fruitiness and gentle warmth
Together, they create a harmonious Lowland Malt with surprising depth and complexity.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Bright citrus, vanilla cream, toasted oak, honey’d sweetness, dried fruit, and nutty spice
- Palate: Silky texture with vanilla, baking spice, baked apple, and golden syrup; rich Sherry fruit adds warmth
- Finish: Long and smooth with lingering toffee, dark fruits, and a soft oak dryness
A Testament to Cask Mastery
“The Epicurean Three Wood Finish is a testament to the art of wood and whisky in perfect harmony,”
remarks Chloe Wood, Brand Manager at Douglas Laing. “This limited-edition release showcases how layers of richness, spice, and sweetness intertwine to create a wonderfully versatile Lowland Malt.”
This new expression is now rolling out across select global markets, reaffirming Douglas Laing’s position at the forefront of independent whisky innovation — and The Epicurean’s reputation as the Master of Versatility.
