Description

Ardbeg Feòrag Japan Committee Exclusive is an Islay single malt created by Dr Bill Lumsden and Gillian Macdonald for the Ardbeg Committee in Japan, inspired by the wild hazelnuts near the distillery and described by Ardbeg as its first whisky matured wholly in Amontillado sherry casks. The nose opens on hazelnut, toffee and honey with leather and freshly baked rye bread; the palate brings nutty toffee, aniseed and root ginger against persistent smoke, and the finish lingers on birch tar and clove oil. Bottled at 53.2% ABV and non chill filtered, it takes its name from the Scottish Gaelic word for squirrel, a nod to the Japanese members who seek out and treasure rare whiskies.
