Description
A handcrafted Spiced Gold Rum from Salcombe, Devon. Single estate, small batch, 42.4% ABV – each release limited to 750 bottles. Distilled from unrefined sugar, molasses, and an in-house yeast strain. Gently fermented, copper double distilled. Aged six to twelve months in ex-Bourbon barrels on site. No sugar added. No artificial colour.
The name Lantern Rock refers to a maritime landmark west of Salcombe’s harbour entrance – a signal for 19th-century fruit schooners bringing spices, sugar and rum from the Caribbean. That legacy lives on in this rum.
In the glass: natural gold. On the nose: warm vanilla, toasted coconut, candied banana and soft oak. Followed by allspice and dried orange peel. The palate is smooth, rich and rounded. Spiced oak meets dark caramel. Hints of chocolate carry through to a long, balanced finish. A dry and complex spiced rum with depth and clarity.
Best enjoyed neat at 18 °C. Holds its character in cocktails – a true spirit of the English South Coast.
